Day 4 Highlights 14/6

Holland top group with win over Denmark
The Netherlands, who have been tipped to win their first World Cup, have gone top of Group E after a 2-0 win over the Danes. Denmark looked good in the first half creating chances through 'barn-door' bendtner and jasper and then in the second half through Jasper Gronkjaer (yes, he is still playing football Chelsea fans!). They conceded an unlucky goal shortly after half time when Simon Poulsen's header hit Agger before going in off the post and Kuyt had the points secured with a tap-in when a fortunate rebound off the post between 2 danish defenders found him

Cameroon falter as Italy held by Paraguay
Japan beat Cameroon to go level on points with Holland with an unlikely win over Cameroon. Cameroon looked lacklustre in a relatively boring game with eto'o placed out on the right wing. Honda scored the winner (plasma and sushi made appearences off the bench) but Holland and Denmark will have little to worry about. In the first game of Group F, Italy were held by Paraguay with 6 members of the side who beat France 4 years ago to lift the trophy

Cameroon had no reasons to dance

Melo names his son 'Lineker'
Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo has named his son 'Lineker' after the England striker saying 'he was a great player, a big name in the national team of England and in the history of the English national team'. Lineker (who was top scorer at World Cup 1986) said 'I am extremely flattered, albeit mildly embaressed'. Here's hoping the next 2 kids are named Hanson and Dixon...

Gary's scored!

(Its just coincidence that the picture I put up of Lineker happpened to include his missus)
