Burley new Palace Manager

George Burley has been announced as the new Crystal Palace manager by the Consortium who saved the club from extinction a week ago. The Scotsman's last managerial role was for the Scottish National team which he left after they didn't qualify for the World Cup. Previously, he has managed Southampton, Derby and Ipswich who he gained promotion with and then took to the EUFA cup after finishing 5th in the Premier League. In his time as Hearts manager, before leaving due to poor relations with the Chairman, he won 8 from his first 10 games and took Hearts to the top of the SPL.Burley said 'I feel it is time to rebuild...i'm looking forward to the challenge and I'm excited about it'. Palace fans will be hoping that Burley can rebuild a squad that has been cut down recently with out of contract players leaving the club such as Nick Carle and Johannes Ertl. With an accomplished manager and stable ownership, Palace fans will be hoping that this really is the dawning of a new era...
