Controversial Simon to ref England match

Brazilian referee Carlos Simon has been chosen to referee England's first World Cup match against USA on saturday. Simon has been in the press for mainly the wrong reasons over the last few years due to controversial decisions and what can only be descibed as 'acting like a tosser'.

After a game in Brazil, Flamengo vice-president, Kleber Leite, warned Fifa against choosing Simon for the World Cup after one 'unambiguously inconsistent, unfair and inquitable technical performance'. He went on to say that 'this is the contribution of Flamengo for the good of the game'.

In a game between Fluminense and Palmeiras, the latter team were disallowed a goal which prompted President Luiz Gonzaga Belluzzo to brand Simon 'a crook, scoundrel and a shameless bastard', adding that 'If I met him in the street, I would slap him. He should be driven out of football'. After speaking with the Brazilian federation, Simon was suspended for 'a repitition of mistakes committed during the competition'.

In 2002, Simon failed to award a penalty to Brasiliense in the Copa Do Brasil final when even the opposition players said he was wrong. While at the last world cup, Simon became a hate figure for grinning as he sent off Teddy Lucic for a very soft second yellow card

England fans will be praying that Simon remains out of the news come Saturday evening.

The referee's a w*nker!
